Black Lives Matter.

It isn't a trend anymore to be a supporter of Black Lives Matter, which if I'm honest, it should have never been a trend anyways. It should be a requirement. Black Lives Matter, not all lives matter, because all lives wont matter until black lives matter. Now it isn't enough to be 'not racist' its only just enough to be anti racist. The general thoughts of a lot of people is that racism only happens in America, this is far from true. Justin Robinson - London Lions guard said this regarding the rejection of the 1 " Basketball is a sport played by predominantly minority ethnic groups, so it doesn't surprise me that the government don't really care, look at rugby, rowing etc, these sports are played by the upper class" That should sum it up for you, basketball is a sport participated in by mainly minority ethnic groups , and funding is rejected. Rugby is participated in by mainly the white ethnicity and the government has handed out £15M. Also basketball is the 2nd most participated in sport, in the UK behind football.

Racism is more than getting killed by the police, racism is being denied of job opportunities because of the colour of your skin, people crossing to the opposite side of the road because of the colour of your skin. People assuming you have stole a car or something because its a nice car and the colour of your skin is different to theirs. That is racism.

14th October 2019. England beat Bulgaria 6-0. However, that wasn't the headline, of course it wasn't. Even though England wiped the floor with Bulgaria that night, that wasn't the talking point, the talking point was the racial slurs towards the black English players throughout the entirety of the game. England did a good job of silencing them given Marcus Rashford, Ross Barkley and Raheem Sterling all scored, all three players are from Black ethnic backgrounds.

This kind of thing still occurs in the uk though, it happened to Raheem Sterling countless times, 'fans' making monkey gestures towards him in the middle of the game. It happened to Fred in the Manchester Derby , a city 'fan' threw bottles towards him and made monkey gesture alongside monkey noises. This is unacceptable and it needs to change.
